Seventy and Two: Musings on Meaning

Alláh-u-abhá Reader/Friend,
Reading a page claiming to give someone else’s self-view is a little silly. No matter how hard I try to avoid it, or how hard you try to analyze my words, you can only get a skewed image of me from my self-description. Really, you can only get to know someone by meeting them in person and developing a relationship. Now, we probably have never met, and we probably never will, so you get my next best thing: my blog. So go and read some entries, try and get a good idea of who I am, then come back and read my own skewed self-description.

My name is Gerald, but I prefer to go by Ruhi (Arabic: spirit) online. I am a high school senior (The last obligatory grade in American education), an American (Of the United States variety), and a Bahá’í. I am handsome, brilliant, deeply spiritual, charismatic, charming, understanding, suave, well-dressed, and just generally adjectivous.

On a more believable (But less fun) note I am an aspiring scholar of Bahá’í and Near-East Studies. I plan on attending Brigham Young University for my degree in Arabic and Near-East Studies in a few years. I am an avid reader of religious and secular literature and eschew silly traditional ideas of quality and “classic” literature. I am an internet fanatic; besides this blog my lunacy lives at AllBeliefs: a webforum for discussion of the various belief systems on earth, The Passively Multiplayer Online Game (PMOG): a site that turns the internet into more of a game than it already is and Bahá’í Community, Bahá’í Discuss and Talisman9: some amazing Yahoo discussion lists regarding the Bahá’í Faith. Obviously I read blogs, and among many others, my favorites include: Bahá’í Views, Meditations on Bahá’u'lláh and Primordial Blog (All of which have identical layouts/themes coincidentally). I know the authors of all three of those blogs personally (To varying degrees) and admire them as much as their blogs.
